Business Office Supervisor – Full Time


Supervises and coordinates the day to day operations of the Patient Financial Services, Business Office, and Health Information Management departments. Will act as primary point of contact for both patients and employees with regard to business office functions and responsibilities. See duties and responsibilities below:


1. Supervises employees
2. Develops employee schedules
3. Monitors staffing levels and makes adjustments as needed to stay within budgetary limits and allow appropriate coverage for patient volumes
4. Provides cross training to optimize daily operations and meet the needs of the organization
5. Hires qualified candidates, conducts performance reviews, counsels and provides disciplinary action; all in conjunction with the facility’s Human Resources guidelines
6. Acts as a resource for Medical Records and the Business Office throughout the organization
7. Reviews and updates policies as needed to reflect current processes
8. Assists in collecting, reporting quality improvement initiatives set by the revenue cycle steering committee
9. Monitors QI initiatives to ensure goals/benchmarks are being met
10. Continued awareness of the latest rules, regulations and compliance guidelines for medical records and the business office
11. Must cross train in direct report areas within 90 days of employment
12. Covers for staffing shortages due to call offs and/or disaster situations
13. Must be available for after hour calls and coverage as needed


1. Knowledge of Health Information and Business Office protocols and interactions
2. Knowledge of ADT and billing software
3. Ability to collect data efficiently and have excellent writing skills for policy and procedure documentation
4. Excellent organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects
5. Proficient in Microsoft office
6. Knowledge of Visio preferred


1. Minimum of 4 years supervisory experience in a hospital environment required
2. Minimum 4 years working knowledge of hospital billing practices, billing software and CMS regulations
3. Minimum 4 years working knowledge of CPT, HCPCS and ICD-9 coding principles
