A hospital is more than a place where people go to heal, it is a part of the community that fosters health and represents hope. From providing treatment and comfort to the sick, to welcoming new life into the world, hospitals are central to a healthy and optimistic community.
National Hospital Week occurred May 7-13 with the theme “The Healing Heart of Healthcare.” The nation’s largest health care event, National Hospital Week dates back to 1921 when it was suggested by a magazine editor who hoped a community wide celebration would alleviate public fears about hospitals. The celebration, launched in Chicago, succeeded in promoting trust and goodwill among members of the public and eventually spread to facilities across the country. National Hospital Week, first and foremost, is a celebration of people. We spent National Hospital Week showing our appreciation to our staff. We started the week off with coffee, served by our Human Resources Staff, and a B-B-Q lunch, served by members of Administration. The middle of the week brought ice cream sundaes and relaxing chair massages. We rounded out the week with game day, including a spinning wheel of prizes and a photo booth with many fun props. Boulder City Hospital is extremely proud of each member of our staff and we recognize the important role they play providing compassionate quality care to our patients and our community.
National Nurses Week begins each year on May 6 and ends on May 12, Florence Nightingale’s birthday. National Nurses Week is an opportunity to recognize the contributions that nurses and nursing make to the community. Every year, National Nurses Week focuses attention on the diverse ways nurses work to save lives and to improve the health of millions of individuals. Celebration of National Nurses Week, held in conjunction with our National Hospital Week festivities, was a resounding success, especially thanks to Anna and Amy, who helped plan everything from activities to decorations. Boulder City Hospital would like to thank our nurses for their dedication, commitment, and tireless effort to provide quality care to each and every person they treat. We couldn’t do it without you!
