Visitation Guidelines

MASKING REQUIREMENTS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE BASED UPON COMMUNITY POSITIVITY RATES

ALL VISITORS ARE REQUIRED TO CHECK IN AT LOBBY ADMITTING OR THE ER AND OBTAIN AND WEAR A VISITOR BADGE

The safety and welfare of our patients is a priority. We ask that all visitors be free of colds, fever, or other signs of infection. Patient visitors may be limited:

  • Under a doctor’s specific order.
  • Upon a patient’s request.
  • At the discretion of nursing personnel to provide a patient with treatment and rest.
  • A positive COVID-19 test.
  • When a visitor experiences a high temperature, coughing, runny nose, sneezing or other signs of infection.
  • If a visitor has come in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
  • When levels of respiratory virus transmission in the community have increased.

MANDATORY VISITATION PROTOCOLS

  • All visitors must sign in at the main lobby or ER upon entering the Hospital.
  • All visitors will be issued a visitor’s badge, must place it on a visible area on clothing, and wear it at all times while in the hospital.
  • All visitors may be required to wear a disposable paper mask when respiratory virus transmission in the community has increased. If visitors do not have an appropriate mask, one will be provided.

IN THE EVENT OF INCREASED RESPIRATORY VIRUS TRANSMISSION IN THE COMMUNITY
ALL VISITORS WILL BE SCREENED FOR COVID-19 SYMPTOMS BEFORE THEY ARE ALLOWED INTO PATIENT AREAS OF THE HOSPITAL

  • Regardless of vaccination status, visitors may be required to undergo a temperature screening and answer the following questions, indicating if they are experiencing or have experienced:
    • Fever or chills
    • Cough
    • Shortness of breath
    • Fatigue, muscle or body aches
    • Headache
    • Nausea or vomiting
    • Difficulty breathing
    • Loss of taste or smell
    • Sore throat
    • Diarrhea
    • Congestion
    • Runny nose
    • Come in close physical contact with anyone who has been exposed to or who is COVID-19 positive within the last 10 days.
    • Traveled out of state or internationally within the last 10 days.
    • Tested positive or had a positive COVID-19 test result within the past five days.
  • Any visitor with a temperature above 100 degrees, will be subject to the following:
    • The visitor will be provided a mask and asked to take a seat in the lobby
    • After 5 minutes the visitor will have their temperature retaken
    • If the temperature continues to be 100.4 degrees or above, the visitor will be asked to leave the hospital and instructed to contact their medical provider
  • All visitors must be 18 years of age or older and provide the room number/name of the person they plan to visit.
    • No visitors are allowed for COVID patients, except under special circumstances at the discretion of administration.
  • Outpatient Surgery: One person may accompany the patient at check in
    • Once the patient is taken to pre-op, family and visitors will be asked to wait in the waiting room
    • If the patient is a minor child, one parent will be asked to stay
  • Outpatient Services:
    • One person may accompany the patient during the procedure
    • One person may wait with the patient receiving outpatient services (i.e. blood transfusion)
    • All other visitors with the same patient Must wait outside the hospital facility
    • If the patient is a minor child, one parent will be asked to stay
  • Inpatient Areas:
    • Visitors must be 18 years of age or older, except in special circumstances at the discretion of administration
    • Visiting Hours are from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. 
    • Visitors must remain in the room during the entire visit
    • Visitors may not congregate in the lobby, cafeteria, or other community areas
  • Emergency Department:
    • One (1) adult visitor, 18 years of age or older, per patient permitted upon physician approval
    • One (1) adult visitor parent/guardian may accompany a minor being treated
    • In an instance when a patient is not able to communicate on their own (e.g., Dementia, altered mental status, intellectually disabled), one caregiver with knowledge related to why the patient is being seen may accompany the individual
    • No visitors permitted during testing, lab, radiology, or other care delivery per the attending physician
  • Geriatric Psychiatric Unit
    • Monday – Friday: 3:30pm – 5:00pm
    • Saturday: 2:30pm – 5:00pm
    • Sunday: 2:30pm – 5:00pm
  • Long Term Care (LTC)
    • Visiting hours for LTC are from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. 
    • Visitors are welcome outside of regular visiting hours by special arrangement through the activity director
Circumstances may allow for specific exceptions to any visitation restrictions and may include a designated visitor for compassionate care, end-of-life or legal situations and or a support person for patients with physical or cognitive impairments or patients with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. All persons entering under an exception remain subject to appropriate infection control protocols.

Animal Visitation

Boulder City Hospital recognizes the therapeutic benefits a patient receives when visited by loved ones. For many, this includes the family pet. Boulder City Hospital is happy to accommodate a patient’s family pet so long as the following criteria are met:

  • The Patient wishes for the animal to visit
  • A current shot/vaccine record is on file with the Hospital
  • Visit is during regular Visiting Hours
  • Exotic pets or pets which cannot be immunized (i.e. birds, reptiles) are not allowed.
